Snow pictures (page 3)
Jan. 22nd, 2005.
Bertolini's - my favorite restaurant in the Mall. I bet the view
from those second-floor windows is amazing in this storm!
Remarkably, the Mall was open for business. I suppose the weather is friendlier inside.
Heavy equipment was being used to clear the Mall parking lot even as
more was falling. There were several machines
much bigger than this one being used. They are literally two stories
high, wheels bigger than me, and fitted with a snow-
pushing rig that spanned two lanes of traffic. When I tried to get
close to one to get a good picture the operator kept
making nasty hand gestures I pretended not to understand. "No habla,"
I signed back to him. When he blew a blast of
that monster's horn it nearly knocked me over backwards. Like a chastened
dog I slinked away to take a shot of this one.
One of the dressed-up entrances to the Mall complex. The vertical smears
are snow that's getting blown into the camera lens. The wind got pretty
harsh.
