Snow pictures (page 4)
Jan. 22nd, 2005.
Free-range shopping carts. Abandoned. Cold and clearly starving - thin as wire.
More free-range shopping carts, huddled together for warmth against
the awful, biting cold.
(The humble narrator is equipped with insulated layers and windproof
Gore-Tex.)
No less tragic, the captive shopping carts. Left exposed to the harsh
elements, without food.
What monster could do such a thing to these poor creatures?
Ahhhhh!
Is nothing to be done? Will these shopping carts be left to die, helpless
in chained pens
or remote corners of parking lots, the detritus of Capitalism? Does
no one care?
Who will step forward, give of themselves, and earn the adoration of
women to
save these poor, wretched shopping carts? Who?
(No, not me, I'm documenting this, remember?)
This man!! Venturing forth from the greedy behemoth that cast off the
poor shopping carts after it had its fill,
this man herds the shopping carts together, discriminating not the
free-range carts from the chained, and takes
them back to warmth and safety where they will once again be fed. And
serve.
Note the OSHA-issued safety vest. Critical to warn off low-flying aircraft
or passenger ships or something like that.
Truly a hero among men.
